Adding a Site

Now that you have logged in (or if you haven't, please check out User-Guide:Getting-Started) adding your first site is simple.

When you first log in you will notice there is a default site already installed, feel free to play around with the editable regions on that site, and get accustomed to working with PageLime.

Let's get started adding a new site.

Step 1

Click on the "Manage Account" button on the far right of the main navigation.

Step 2

Click on "Register New Site"

Step 3

You can now add the website URL into the "Site Url" Box After you do this PageLime will attempt to Auto-Detect the rest of your site values.

Note: If it hangs you can cancel the auto detect at anytime.

If the auto-detect fails to add any values you can manually add them yourself. Below is an explanation of what each field is asking for:

  • Site Name: this is the general use name of the website. It's what you normally would define between "<title>" tags in the <head> of a website.
  • Site Home Page URL: this is specific(default) file that loads with your website homepage.
    • Example: http://www.frontview-design.com/index.php
    • Note: This is the page that PageLime initially loads up, you can specify any site within your site structure. It's a great way of editing "Under Contruction" sites
  • Content Style Sheet URL: this is the stylesheet where PageLime will look for styles when you edit content. PageLime will always use your default CSS file for layouts, this allows you to specify a PageLime Specific stylesheet so you or your clients can use predefined styles in the styles dropdown in the WYSIWYG editor.
  • Editable CSS Class Name: this is the class PageLime looks for when finding your defined editable regions. The default is "cms-editable" you can choose what ever you want.

That's it for the basic information, now click on the integration tab.

Step 4

On this screen you will input your FTP information.

First you have to choose your publishing method. Here you have two options FTP and FTP-XML. For this basic guide we will be using the FTP method.

  • Note:If you would like to do dynamic content management with our full featured XML publishing system and our Open Source API you can view integration instructions here: FTP-XML Setup

To setup Basic FTP Information do the following:

  • Make sure FTP is selected.
  • FTP Address: This is the FTP host information for your website it will be a URL like "ftp.mysite.com" (if you are unsure try "www.mysite.com") where "mysite" is your websites domain name.
    • Note: You can also do a specific IP Adress as well. Example: 192.1.1.100
  • Port: This is your FTP port. This port is almost always 21.
  • Username: This is your FTP Username.
  • Password: This is your FTP password.
  • Publish Passkey We use the Publish Passkey to encrypt your FTP information, but we do NOT store it. Every time you want to publish a page, we ask for your passkey to decrypt the FTP info. Bottom line: your data is safe.
    • Note: This is optional.
  • Home Directory This is the directory on your FTP server where the actual web page is stored from. This is often "Public_Html", "WWW", "WWW.YOURDOMAINNAME.COM", or "YOURDOMAIN.COM.
    • Note: You can use the "Browse" icon to the right of the Home Directory box to log into your FTP and choose the directory. You must have your Username and Password already assigned.

This concludes the User-Guide:Adding-a-Site Section.
